DEVELOPMENT OF CHINA'S INDUSTRY
In 2008, China's telecom industry not only experienced important reform and development but also faced severe challenges and tests. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, China¡¯s telecom industry adopted scientific concept of development and comprehensive reform and restructuring of enterprises.
STATUS OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT
According to the statistics of MOFCOM, 48 foreign investment projects in Telecom industry (Telecom Industry (Code G60) hereinafter is in accordance with the National Economic Industrial Classification (GB/T4754-2202£©.) were newly set up in 2009, 20 more than that of the same period in the last year, and the amount of the actual utilized foreign capital reached USD 71,450,000, down by 6.56£¥ year-on-year.
COMMITMENTS TO THE WTO AND INTERNATIONAL PRACTICES
As for the Paging Services, Foreign Service suppliers will be permitted to establish joint venture enterprises, without quantitative restrictions, and provide services in and between the cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing.
DEVELOPMENT OF GLOBAL INDUSTRIES
In 2006, the development tendency of telecom industry is that the share of data service income is increased, and the share of phone service is declined. In addition to the convergence of the whole industry, each telecom carrier makes overall reform in management strategy in a strategic level. Meanwhile, convergence becomes the main rhythm of 2006 telecom industry. The carriers develop new convergence services one by one.
