Statistics show that the import & export of FIEs totaled US$149.038 billion in January through August 2000, up by 38.79% over the same period in 1999; the export volume of FIEs reached US$74.637 billion, up by 36.76%, while the import reached US$74.401 billion, up by 40.89%. FIEs under investment contributions imported US$8.226 billion worth of equipment for their own use, up by 15.84% and accounting for 11.06% of their total import volume.
