Statistics show that the import & export of FIEs totaled US$29.174 billion in January through February 2000, up by 45.45% over the same period in 1999; the export volume of FIEs reached US$14.305 billion, up by 36.99%, while the import reached US$14.869 billion, up by 54.63%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$1.644 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 18.19% and accounting for 11.06% of their total import volume.
