Statistics show that China's import and export totaled US$241.006 billion in January through June 2001, the export volume reached US$124.574 billion and the import was US$116.431 billion, up by 11.3%, 8.8% and 14.0% respectively over the same period in 2000.
The import & export of FIEs totaled US$122.433 billion, up by 14.67%; the export volume of FIEs reached US$62.258 billion, up by 16.91%, while the import reached US$60.175 billion, up by 12.44%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$7.107 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 20.58% and accounting for 11.81% of their total import volume.
