Statistics show that China's import & export totaled US$560.181 billion in January through November 2002, the export volume reached US$293.694 billion and the import was US$266.487 billion, up by 21.0%, 21.6% and 20.5% respectively over the same period in 2001. The import & export of FIEs totaled US$297.141 billion, up by 26.5%; the export volume of FIEs reached US$152.897 billion, up by 26.7%, while the import reached US$144.244 billion, up by 26.4%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$15.375 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 16.6% and accounting for 10.7% of their total import volume.
