Statistics show that China's import and export totaled US$122.061 billion in January through March 2002, the export volume reached US$64.658 billion and the import was US$57.404 billion, up by 7.7%, 9.9% and 5.2% respectively over the same period in 2001.
The import & export of FIEs totaled US$64.269 billion, up by 10.6%; the export volume of FIEs reached US$33.56 billion, up by 12.3%, while the import reached US$30.709 billion, up by 8.8%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$3.371 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 5.1% and accounting for 11% of their total import volume.
