Statistics show that the import & export of FIEs totaled US$15.416 billion in January 2000, up by 45.65% over the same period in 1999; the export volume of FIEs reached US$7.558 billion, up by 37.29%, while the import reached US$7.857 billion, up by 54.70%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$0.887 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 30.44% and accounting for 11.29% of their total import volume.
