Statistics show that China's import and export totaled US$417.834 billion in January through October 2001, the export volume reached US$217.579 billion and the import was US$200.255 billion, up by 7.9%, 6.1% and 10.0% respectively over the same period in 2000.
The import & export of FIEs totaled US$211.432 billion, up by 9.95%; the export volume of FIEs reached US$108.425 billion, up by 11.63%, while the import reached US$103.007 billion, up by 8.22%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$12.042 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 15.77% and accounting for 11.69% of their total import volume.
