Statistics show that the import & export of FIEs totaled US$67.362 billion in January through April 2000, up by 39.46% over the same period in 1999; the export volume of FIEs reached US$33.414 billion, up by 35.42%, while the import reached US$33.948 billion, up by 43.69%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$3.692 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 11.10% and accounting for 10.88% of their total import volume.
