Statistics show that the import & export of FIEs totaled US$236.714 billion in January through December 2000, up by 35.64% over the same period in 1999; the export volume of FIEs reached US$119.441 billion, up by 34.77%, while the import reached US$117.273 billion, up by 36.55%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$13.094 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 18.18% and accounting for 11.17% of their total import volume.
