Statistics show that the import & export of FIEs totaled US$126.887 billion in January through July 2000, up by 37.34% over the same period in 1999; the export volume of FIEs reached US$63.306 billion, up by 35.88%, while the import reached US$63.581 billion, up by 38.84%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$6.985 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 11.90% and accounting for 10.99% of their total import volume.
