Statistics show that 6,171 FIEs were newly approved for establishment nationwide in January through March 2002, up by 16.24% over the same period in 2001; the contractual foreign investment reached US$17.855 billion, up by 11.42%; and the paid-in foreign investment reached US$10.111 billion, up by 27.49%.
