Statistics show that 11,991 FIEs were newly approved for establishment nationwide in January through June 2001, up by 18.71% over the same period in 2000; the contractual foreign investment reached US$33.459 billion, up by 38.43%; and the paid-in foreign investment reached US$20.709 billion, up by 20.63%.
