Statistics show that 7,433 FIEs were newly approved for establishment nationwide in January through April 2001, up by 22.66% over the same period in 2000; the contractual foreign investment reached US$20.248 billion, up by 38.28%; and the paid-in foreign investment reached US$10.953 billion, up by 12.43%.
