Statistics show that 27,630 FIEs were newly approved for establishment nationwide in January through October 2002, up by 34.46% over the same period in 2001; the contractual foreign investment reached US$74.989 billion, up by 35.85%; and the paid-in foreign investment reached US$44.721 billion, up by 20.05%.
