Statistics show that 17,493 FIEs were newly approved for establishment nationwide in January through October 2000,up by 28.42% over the same period in 1999; the contractual foreign investment reached US$43.516 billion, up by 37.00%; and the paid-in foreign investment reached US$31.402 billion, down by 3.04%.
