Statistics show that China's import and export totaled US$462.770 billion in January through November 2001, the export volume reached US$241.570 billion and the import was US$221.200 billion, up by 7.4%, 6.3% and 8.6% respectively over the same period in 2000. The import & export of FIEs totaled US$234.846 billion, up by 9.4%; the export volume of FIEs reached US$120.704 billion, up by 11.5%, while the import reached US$114.142 billion, up by 7.3%. Of the investment made by FIEs, US$13.19 billion went to the import of equipment for their own use, up by 12.9% and accounting for 11.6% of their total import volume.
