The Innovation Plaza, Creation Plaza and the Central Business Center of Guangzhou Science City are now completed and ready to be put into use. Eight national industry bases, including bio-industry, IT, service outsourcing and internet game and animation, are inaugurated; and 30 projects that relate to high-tech and modern service industries like IT, software service outsourcing, finance, logistics, biomedicine, environment protection, new materials, industrial design and animation, made their official opening today. The only Harmonious Labor Relations Industrial Park of all national development zones was unveiled the same day.

Xue Xiaofeng – member of the Standing Committee of Guangzhou City Council, Secretary of Party Working Committee of Guangzhou Development Zone, director of the management committee, and Secretary of Luogang District – said that Guangzhou Development Zone would take the lead in Guangdong Province to build up the Prior Friendly Zone and strive for being the Special District of Guangzhou.

Industry Leaders Targeting the New Promise Land

The following enterprises have signed up and they plan to set up bases in this development zone: South China Headquarter of Alibaba, South China Headquarter of Bao Steel Group, South China Headquarter of China National Offshore Oil Corp., VASTO China, Bio-industry Research Institute of Sun Yat-Sen University and Scut Bestry Technology Company. Besides, Achievo Corporation – global cooperation center of HP Software and strategic cooperation enterprise of HP – is planning to move its whole R&D team and software development team to the Science City, and this new base of Achievo will also be titled as the Guangzhou Software Service Outsourcing Center of HP. At the same time, Bolong Data Resource Co. Ltd, the strategic cooperation enterprise of Intel, will launch a project called Guangzhou International Data Safety Solution Center, which is also one of the core projects of the development of finance industry in Guangzhou. Moreover, many top brands of high-tech and modern industries like finance, animation, information service and industrial design. This is a grand gathering of prestigious brands of all fields.

Science City Plans to Upgrade

Guangzhou development zone will make use of the hilly terrain of Jiulong Town, and the city plans to build up a 20 square kilometers district for the beginning stage where an upgraded version of Science City will be built, according to sources. Around this upgraded Science City, more infrastructures and resources will be implemented, in order to create a One-hundred-mile Science City of Guangzhou. At the same time, at the east part of Guangzhou, the city is planning to build up a new Luogang District that matches the international standards and ecologically-sound requirements. Guangzhou is striving to make its development zone become the pioneer of the modern industry chain and the model of a livable community, so that Guangzhou can be more qualified for being an international first-class city.
