Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone (BETDZ) signed an agreement with South Korea's SK Group recently. BETDZ plans to introduce SK China (headquarter), SK Telecom, and other related enterprises for cooperatively develop the international digital creative and industrial design project.

It is learned that total investment for the international digital creative and industrial design project will reach about 1 billion U.S. dollars, and it is expected to be completed in 2013. With the implementation of the project, SK China (headquarter), SK Telecom, SK Energy, SK trade, SK construction and some other SK enterprises will gradually move into Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. Other related entities that will settle here during the same period include Chicago International Design Center, South Korea's NCSOFT Game Development and Operation Company, Japan's CKD Co., Ltd, School of Design of Illinois Institute of Technology, Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs, Royal College of Art, Danmark Design School, etc.

Personnel in charge of the development zone said that international digital creative and industrial design project, centering on "international digital hub" and "international design and business center", will cover an area of about 200,000 square meters and the annual value of production will be over 30 billion yuan after it is completed. Among them, "international digital hub" will base on SK Telecom's main business, make use of computers, mobile phones, networks, digital media and other means, build a world-class international marketing centre for digital product development, production, consumption, and transportation in terms of software, industrial design, animation, games, music, video and other creative industries.

"International design and business center" will mainly base on Chicago International Design Center, make use of the advantages of SK Communications, attract a large number of professional designers to settle here, operate the trading center in B2B mode, and provide all-dimensional services for companies in and out of the development zone which include design training, professional design, exhibition and experience of virtual design products, transactions of actual designs.
