DEVELOPMENT OF CHINA'S INDUSTRY
The exhibition industry revealed dramatic change and new development trends in 2006. In 2006, the direct income from various exhibitions in mainland China totaled 14 billion yuan, if calculated by 1 yuan of exhibition income stimulating 9 yuan of community output; we may conclude that the exhibition industry was promoting the economic and social development with ever strengthening power.
STATUS OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT
According to the statistics released by Ministry of Commerce, in 2006 there were 47 projects using foreign investment in exhibition industry, up 23.68% over the same period of the previous year. The actually used foreign capital amount was 6 million USD, up 67.96% over the previous year.
COMMITMENTS TO THE WTO AND INTERNATIONAL PRACTICES
The exhibition industry does not fall within the 142 services as provided for in the GATT/Uruguay Round Service Trade Agreement. In the bilateral and multilateral negotiations for the WTO entry, the Chinese government did not commit itself to the open-up of the exhibition industry after acquiring WTO membership, nor did the WTO members raise such requests.
DEVELOPMENT OF GLOBAL INDUSTRIES
The consumption environment in the whole Germany in 2006 was better than in 2005. It is predicted that there will be 163 international exhibitions held this yeas in Deutschland, and will be 175,000 exhibitors, increased by 2~3%. It is no wonder that it will topple the 2000 highest record. Number of visitors will be increased by 1%. It is also predicted that area for exhibitions will be increased slightly.
