Electricity Power Resources

Since the reform and opening-up, electricity power industry has implemented the principle of " separating enterprise from administration, taking province as entity, integrating electricity power net, centralizing the management and raising fund for electricity infrastructure, which has greatly aroused the enthusiasm and the sense of responsibility of local people so that the fund has been rapidly raised and the electricity construction has got flying development. Since 1988, the annual added generating sets put into production have exceeded 10000MW in 11 years straight and the caliber has reached 15000MW according to the national statistics. The electricity nets in all big regions and provinces have strengthened construction. From 1982 to the end of 1999, the 35KV-above electricity transmission line increased by 372837km and the capacity of transformer substations by 732690MVA nationwide, while in the 30 years from 1950 to 1981 the electricity transmission line increased by 277257km and capacity of transformer substations by 70360 MVA.

At present, China has basically entered the new era of big electricity nets, big power plants, big generating sets, high-voltage electricity transmission and high degree of autocontrol. Main indicators of the development of electricity net are:

1.  At present there are 11 2000MW-above electrical systems in China, among which the installation capacities of electricity net in the Northeast, North China, East China and Central China exceed 30000MW, those in East and Central China even exceed 40000MW and that in the Northwest also exceed 2000MW. The south electricity pool system connects the electricity net in Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan 4 provinces, which has realized the transmission of electricity from the western to the eastern region. The other several independent provincial nets in provinces such as Sichuan, Shandong, Fujian also reached 10000MW installation capacity.

2.  500KV (including 300KV) main net framework has gradually formed and strengthened. 220KV electricity net has been continually improved and expanded. By the end of 1999, the total length of 220KV-above electricity transmission line had reached 495123km and electricity transformation capacity 593690MVA, among which 500KV line(including DC line) reached 22927km and the electricity transformation capacity 80120MVA.

3.  In 1990, +500KV DC electricity transmission line from Gezhouba hydropower station to Nanqiao inversion station in Shanghai, the first such in China, realized two-way transmission so that the electricity nets in Central China and East China were connected not in the same period.

4.  With the forming and strengthening of 500KV net's framework and the improvement of net structure, the stability of power system's operation has greatly improved. The system stability destroyed accident in recent 10 years decreased by 60% than the last 10 years.

5.  The auto-control system of provincial-and-above electricity net's modernization has basically realized practicality.

6.  Covering all main electricity nets nationwide, the electricity special-purpose communication net characterized by data communication has roughly taken shape.
