GDP of the Yangtze River Delta region 16 cities close to four trillion yuan in 2006

Noted from the Yangtze River Delta Research Center of Bureau of Statistics of Jiangsu Provincial, according to preliminary statistics, GDP of the Yangtze River Delta region 16 cities approached four trillion yuan mark in 2006, reached 3.9526 trillion yuan, with an increase of 556.3 billion yuan than 2005.

From the proportion of the total, the National GDP was 20.9407 trillion yuan in 2006, Yangtze River Delta region¡¯s GDP shared 18.9% of China's GDP. From the growth rate, the average growth rate of the Yangtze River Delta region 16 cities reached 14.7%, the Yangtze River Delta region has become an important contribution region which pulling the national economic growth.

Analysing from the development situation of total economic output in 2006, Shanghai continue to play the leader role, and become the country's first city which GDP exceeded 1,000 billion yuan, GDP of 8 along river City in Jiangsu exceeded 1.7 trillion yuan, GDP of 7 city in Zhejiang also exceeded 1.1 trillion yuan.

From the completion situation of the Yangtze River Delta region 16 cities, which formed four phalanx. Shanghai still in the first phalanx; The second phalanx contained Suzhou, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Ningbo, Nanjing five cities which GDP more than 200 billion yuan; The third phalanx composed by Nantong, Shaoxing, Changzhou, Taizhou, Jiaxing, Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, Taizhou eight cities which from 100 billion yuan to 2000 billion yuan; The fourth phalanx was Huzhou and Zhoushan which GDP less than 100 billion yuan.
