2007-09-11

The 11th CIFIT delivers a constant stream of pleasant surprises. Media reports indicate that the first ever transportation projects matchmaking symposium has proved immensely popular among domestic and overseas attendee. The symposium will showcase 300 large and medium-sized transportation and logistics projects, requiring a total investment of USD 20 billion. More than 30 domestic and overseas investors will converge in Xiamen to explore opportunities to invest in the projects.

Previous CIFITs held matchmaking symposiums by region and nature of investment projects, hoping that the investors¡¯ and projectors¡¯ financing intents would become more centralized and the cooperative exchanges would become more direct and increase the fair efficiency among parties. The organizing commission has recently chosen the hottest investment sector - transport, as the first industrial matchmaking pilot.

Zheng Weihang, Assistant Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee, said that the 11th Five-Year Plan will promote the rapid development of China¡¯s transportation, and that 2007 is the first year of the implementation of the 11th Five-Year Plan. This year, CIFIT held the first transport matchmaking symposium which was a trademark, having far-reaching impacts.

The Secretariat of the Transport Matchmaking Symposium has opened an official website at www.gfo-gtif.com, providing information on over 300 key transport and logistics projects. A special CD-ROM for the 2007 Guide to China¡¯s Transportation Projects has also been prepared. The guide contains information on the amounts of investment required and investment environment and policies of the projects. Projects showcased at the matchmaking symposium involve highways, railways, airports, seaports and logistics parks.
