His Excellency Minister of Commerce of the People¡¯s Republic of China

His Excellency Ambassador of the Republic of Mozambique to China

Dear Investors

Dear Madame and Sir

Nowadays, there has been a tendency in the economic field the cooperation between countries through Trade and Investment.

In fact, over the past few years Mozambique has entered the world economy. Rapid and serious reforms of its economic and political systems enable Mozambique to open its doors for International Trade and Investment.

The Republic of Mozambique believes that the openness to trade and investment flows is a key factor in lifting economic growth.

In this way, Mozambique being integrated in the world market has seen its average incomes rise achieving at least in the last 10 years 8 per cent of the Average Annual Growth.

While the Province of Inhambane, which is the one of 10 provinces of the Republic of Mozambique, has estimated 13.8 per cent the economic growth to 2007.

In this good environment above, we encourage and invite the investors to invest in the Province of Inhambane ¨C Republic of Mozambique in the following areas:

1. Tourism

Dear investors, you are always welcome to Inhambane Province. Together with us you have the opportunity to develop a prosperous business based on the great natural resources Inhambane has to offer. 700 km of pristine palm fringed tropical beaches, islands with fine white sand and colorful coral reefs invite tourists to relax and discover our nature.

Tourism development is benefiting from its vicinity to the South African Republic and its good infrastructures. Due to its two international airports in the City of Inhambane and Vilankulos our tropical beaches are merely a two hours flight away from Johannesburg. Please find further information about possibilities to invest in the tourism sector on our webpage www.invest-in-Inhambane.gov.mz .

2. Agriculture

2.1. Main Agricultural Products

The main agricultural products of Inhambane Province are cassava, peanuts, beans, mapira, rice, corn and mexoeira. Our most important products are coconuts which are used to produce bio-diesel, oil, soap and copra.

2.2. Forests

Dear investors, 80 per cent (=53.304 km2) of the total area of Inhambane Province is covered with forests. But only about 26% of the total area are covered with productive forests and offer an estimated total volume of 2.360.742m3 wood of commercial value.

2.3. Wildlife

Inhambane Province has three conservation areas namely Zinave National Park, with an extension of 3.700 km2; Bazaruto National Park with an extension of 600 km2 and Pomene Partial Reserve, with an extension of 50km2. These parks are inhabited by elephants, zebras, buffalos, hippopotamus, elands, impalas and other antelopes.

3. Fishery

Dear Madame and Sir, the whole of Inhambane Province surrounded by the Indian Ocean where a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and other seafood is abundant. This is why fishing activities as well as investment in aquaculture are very welcome.

4. Industry and Commerce

Inhambane Province has a big lack industry and shopping centers such as supermarkets, hypermarkets, plants to process coconuts, produce bio-diesel, fertilizers, textile industry, plants to produce vehicles and many more.

5. Public Works and Housing

Inhambane Province needs bigger investments to develop low cost housing areas for its population. Another important area would be to improve the water supply for local communities using modern solar techniques.

 6. Transport and Communications

Another investment area would be the construction of a bridge that connects the city of Inhambane with Maxixe. From an economic and social point of view a connection of these two cities is fundamental. In this context the Government of Inhambane Province invites investors to construct this vital bridge. This bridge could create a solid base for the development of human and financial capital in the area of fishery, transport, education, commerce, industry, tourism and agriculture. The linkage between the two facing cities of Inhambane and Maxixe could be established by a bridge of less than 4 km and would shortcut the actual 60 km long road.

To sum up, we believe that integrating with the world economy Trade and Investment is a powerful vehicle for growth and poverty reduction in Mozambique.

In this sense, on behalf of my name and the Inhambane Province Government declare that all investors have the opportunity to develop a prosperous business based on the existing resources and you are always welcome to Inhambane Province.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH
