TAIPEI, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's unemployment rate was 3.87 percent in August, according to data released by the island's statistics agency Tuesday. The figure was 0.02 percentage points lower year on year, but 0.06 percentage points higher month on month, the agency said. There were around 461,000 unemployed people in Taiwan in August, 8,000 more than in July. The unemployment rate of those with a college degree was 5.4 percent, the highest among all educational levels. In terms of age, the unemployment rate of the 20-24 age group was the highest, followed by the 15-19 and 25-29 age groups. In August, about 11.46 million people were employed in Taiwan, up 0.14 percent from the previous month, the agency said.
