All of the five cities that make up Hefei Economic Rim in East China's Anhui province will promote closer integration of infrastructure, industrial layout, factor market, environmental protection and public service.
The move was announced at a meeting held by executive vice mayors from Hefei, Huainan, Lu'an, Tongcheng and Chuzhou on Tuesday.
The province will favor the rim when distributing major manufacturing programs and strategic emerging industrial projects, according to a package of guidelines on speeding up the development of the region issued at the meeting.
The rim will continue to focus on momentous projects in such fields as information technology, home appliance manufacturing, equipment manufacturing, new energy and agriculture, the document said.
Economic development zones and modern agriculture demonstration zones in the region, the officials present at the meeting said, should step up efforts to undertake industrial transfers from richer coastal areas, adding that members of the rim are encouraged to enter into partnership in construction of industrial zones.
Infrastructure in the five cities will be integrated regardless of administrative divisions, according to the guidelines. For example, expressways will be renovated, while intercity railways built, in a bid to slash the travel time between Hefei and the rest four to half an hour. In addition, an equal access to basic public services is to be ensured by 2020.
The rim will enjoy financial support and tax incentives, local authorities said.
