Hefei and Wuhu in Anhui province have been selected as cities to promote new-energy vehicles, according to a list released by national authorities on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued the list of 28 cities nationwide to promote new-energy vehicles.
Between 2013 and 2015, mega cities are to promote a minimum of 10,000 new-energy vehicles and other cities at least 5,000. New-energy vehicles will make up 30 percent of newly-added public buses, official cars, logistics and sanitation trucks in those cities, said the four government agencies in a previous notice.
Subsidies will be provided to help promote new-energy vehicles.
Hefei, capital of the province, has been playing a major role in the nationwide campaign for new-energy vehicle promotion.
Wuhu will join in promoting the vehicles largely by adopting a car-renting model, which is mainly designed for governments and enterprises. It is expected to unveil measures to encourage individual buyers in mid-December, said an official of the Municipal Administration of Science and Technology.
