the 2nd world investment forum to open today

the 2nd world investment forum (wif) is due to open today in xiamen. according to the 14th cifit organizational committee, chinese vice president xi jinping is expected to attend the opening ceremony and give a keynote speech.

 

the latest statistics indicate that 1500 distinguished guests will take part in this grand event, including nine heads of state from home and abroad, 50 foreign ministers, 39 chinese provincial and ministerial officers, 114 high officers from chinese and overseas companies, 54 senior experts and scholars, 24 principals of international organization, 169 directors for investment promotion agencies, and governmental leaders as well as policymakers.

 

the world is currently in a post-financial crisis era. as the worldwide investment promotion organizations adjust their investment strategies, global investment is exhibiting a new dualistic trend.

 

“countries around the world are seeking investment liberalization while strengthening investment regulation, so as to activate investment flow to maximize the benefits of the state’s public policy,” mr. james x zhan, director for investment and enterprise bureau, unctad, is the key promoter to introduce world investment forum to xiamen. according to zhan, the wif will focus on topics such as achieving the consistency between inward and outward investment policies, exploring the ways to restrict investment protectionism, and striking a balance between investment liberation and regulation.
